America, America…… Jesus Wept
In preparing to write my initial post, there were some pictures I wanted to take of the statue of Jesus weeping. On arriving at the location, with camera in hand, my fingers began snapping a couple of shots. Backing away, I
noticed something at the feet of Jesus.
My eyes fell on a small American Flag, a stone and rock with delicate pink flower petals strewn alongside. They were laid just below the words engraved into the marble pedestal: “And Jesus Wept.” Without a second thought, I had to capture that picture. That picture remained fixated in my mind and I pondered what that picturesque vignette represented. Is Jesus weeping for America? Sitting in His throne room He has seen what has become of her and yes, He is weeping for her. America is losing her soul and has walked away from her God. America and
her people have failed to stand up for righteousness. Lies have become truth, and truths have become lies, along with embracing every other sordid and contemptuous temptation that Satan has placed before her.
It also spoke volumes about the questions that linger in the minds of thousands of Americans. What is becoming of America and is she a hopeless cause? As I read comments posted beneath political, religious, and journalistic articles, I discern that there is a feeling of frustration, anger, and hopelessness among the citizenry, both Christians and non-Christians with what is happening to our country morally, politically, financially, and culturally.
Israel was guilty of turning away from God, breaking His 10 commandments and becoming worldly, or in other words, sinful in every way possible. Eventually, she suffered the consequences of her sins. Tired of the suffering, the Israelites called out to God, repented, and returned to Him, obedient to His commandments and began living righteously. And we all know what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah, two cities that were addicted to every immoral temptation known to man. They, too, suffered the consequences, total annihilation.
Fast-forward to America and you will see history repeating itself. Is America quickly moving forward to her demise or can she be salvaged? A battle is being waged for the soul of this nation. American troops are engaged in a battle to protect our nation on foreign soil and, we are being called to do spiritual battle for our nation here on our native land. Let us rise to the challenge with a zeal and passion equal to that of our troops to defend her to the end through prayer.
Yes, there is hope for America as I believe in God, his mercy, grace, and sovereign power over the entire world. The government can strip us of our rights, strangle economic growth, and over-regulate and over-tax the people of America. The gates of Hell can come against us with every temptation known to man, however, there is a powerful and mighty weapon we possess that can bring down the walls of captivity, oppression, suppression, sin and evil, which cannot be taken from us and that weapon is the power of prayer.
We serve a covenant God. A God who tells us His Words will not return to Him empty. He assures us that His promises are true each and every morning. And in His words he promised:
If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways I will hear them from heaven and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
And, at this time, as in times past, we, the People, of these United States, must stand united in prayer, on our knees, repenting of our sins and the sins of our forefathers. We must be diligent in praying as united prayer will move the hand of God, like nothing else can. Then we shall see the supernatural power of God move on this country, our government, against our enemies, and the evil that is intent on destroying us.
Just as the walls of Jericho came tumbling down at the sound of the trumpet, so can the walls of socialism, suppression, oppression, greed, division, captivity, and every kind of sin being built around America come crashing down through the power and sound of faithful prayers.

Will you join me in reciting this prayer:
Prayer for America and Her People
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. You alone are God over all the nations of the earth. I glorify and magnify your name for it is holy.
Let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your people, the people of America .
I confess the sins we Americans, including myself have committed against you. We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed your commandments. We have broken your laws and turned our face from you.
Do not be angry beyond measure, O LORD; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray, for we are all your people.
Give attention to your servant’s prayer and my plea for mercy, O LORD my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day. May your eyes be open toward America night and day, this place of which her founding fathers said, ‘His Name shall be there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place.
Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive. Forgive this nation of her sins, for they are too numerous. Pour out your unfailing grace on her. Stir her heart to righteousness and draw the American people back to the heart of their God. Hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy, and in your faithfulness and righteousness come to America’s salvation.
And may these words of mine, which I have prayed before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, that he may uphold the cause of his servant and the cause of America and your people according to each day’s need, then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea for America, and uphold their cause.
So I pray to you, O Lord, in the time of your favor, in your great love, and wondrous mercy, O God, answer me with your sure salvation for the nation I love. I pray for the peace of America: “May those who love you be secure.”
Amen
