No Where Else to Go, but God.

If I am certain about anything it is that life is uncertain.   The latest tragedies that have occurred across this beautiful country have definitely emphasized that truth.  Not only has the landscape been changed by the force of nature that has swept across the land, but the hundreds of lives of those affected by the recent storms have also been changed.

I find myself overwhelmed at times with  grief.  I grieve with the people who have suffered traumatic experiences with great loss as their tragic stories unfold.   I look at the horrific pictures and wonder where does anyone begin to start over. As a nation, we are experiencing a period in which so much that we held dear in our lives and about our country has changed, and people have experienced loss in a myriad of ways.  You may  be silently pondering where do we go from here.

As journalists interview the people devastated by the recent storms,  I hear people in their own words speaking about their faith in God and praising Him. Wow!   Their faith reminds me of a saying:

“You are the captain of your own Faith.”

And the answer to the question, where to we go from here is “Yes, there is a place we have where we can go.  It is into the arms of our Jesus.”  He is  aware of what is happening in our lives at any given moment and He promises never to abandon us.  He has promised to be present even in our darkest hour.

Jesus looked at them and said,

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

When you run to God you will find Him more than capable of handling any situation., any problem, any need.   All you need to do is cry out to Him.

Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and

He delivered them out of their distress.  Psalm 107:6

When you run into the arms of God what will you find?

His people, His servants..  Each person who is uniquely and wonderfully made positioning himself to use and give of his skill, his talent, and his servant’s heart.

Each person committed to serve as they hear God asking them to do what they  know to do best.  There are those who volunteer to search; others bring food, clothing and other necessities; yet others give comfort; some pray with and for you; others are hospitable; and others provide medical help.    God knows exactly how  He wired us and sees the creative works of His Hands being brought to life through the talents and skills of the people within a community and those that are present in our daily lives.  And it is in these tough times that God’s people are a blessing to all of us.   Thank God for His people who come running with arms wide open, willing to give from a servant’s heart full with His love.

God wants us to be confident and assured when the storms of life wash over us like a tsunami, that we can, as His children, run to him and find refuge and strength  in the midst of the storm.

The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.

                                                            Psalm 27:1
